Mission Statement:
The mission of Revelation Ministries is to train
and equip people to share the hope of Jesus Christ through the performing
arts worldwide. We seek to encourage and build unity between denominations
and the local body of Christ in our efforts to fulfill the Great Commission. |
|
What We believe:
-
We believe the Bible is the written word of God, inspired
by the Holy Spirit. The Bible is the revelation of God’s truth and
is infallible and authoritative in all matters of faith and practice.
-
We believe that God created the earth and all that
is in it. We believe that He created man in His own image.
-
We believe in God the Father, the Son, and the Holy
Spirit. We believe that Jesus was God in the flesh and that he came
to earth to take the form of man and became a sacrifice for our sin
-
We believe that we are all sinners and totally unable
to save ourselves from God’s displeasure, except by His mercy.
-
We believe that salvation is by God alone. We
believe His choice is based on His grace, not on any human individual merit,
or foreseen faith.
-
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of
God, who through His perfect life and sacrificial death atoned for the
sins of all who will trust in Him, alone for salvation.
-
We believe the only way to Heaven is accepting Jesus
Christ as your personal Savior.
-
We believe Jesus left the Holy Spirit here to comfort
and guide us until His return.
-
We believe that all aspects of our lives are to be
lived to the glory of God under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

God called this
ministry into being and it is His not ours.
We are only here to
further His kingdom as He directs our lives.
We give Him glory
for all that happens through this ministry.

Building Blocks, Reported by Travis Johnson:
A fundraising event was held in the spring of
1996 with over 200 volunteers. It was a black tie evening with a seven-minute
skit about Noah and the ark. Those who caught the vision that night
provided funding for a talented group of Christians to create two scripts.
One entitled "The Greatest Love of All" begins in Genesis and points the
way to the resurrection of Jesus. The second script, "Devil or Angel,"
is about two teenagers who find a love greater than themselves.
In February 1997, I went to Moscow with a mission
group from our church. We worked with Christians who were building
an orphanage and providing daily meals to children living in the subways.
Those Russian Christians blessed me. They praise the Lord with all
their hearts. They would come by one at a time or sometimes with
an interpreter and visit with me as I painted the heat radiators in the
building. I became concerned that I would cause them to lose their
jobs, and I spoke to their supervisor about it. He smiled and said,
"No, they will not lose their jobs. It is your hair." I did
not understand and asked what he meant. He replied, "They want to
sit and talk with you because of your gray hair. They do not know
anyone who has walked with Jesus very long. We are all baby Christians
here-even our parents." When I told them of God's call to bring the
gospel of Jesus to Russia through theatre, they were so happy. "We
can share about Jesus with our friends and relatives who will not go to
church." The look of hope and expectation in their eyes remains with
me. |

God’s Direction:
February of 1998 we attempted to present on stage
locally " Devil or Angel" in an attempt to fund a trip to Russia. When
sufficient funds were not raised, our Board of Directors decided to stop
production in June rather than take on debt. We learned many valuable
lessons through our failure. After several months of postproduction I felt
God telling me to be still and wait. I could not share my testimony.
I just prayed and waited. Much of 1999 past as I prayed and waited.
In November I visited Northeast Baptist Church the Reverend Stephen Geiger
is Pastor. My wife and I knew Stephen Geiger as a teenager; but since
he left for college and seminary, we had lost track of him.
It was a good service. Later that week Pastor Stephen
called me. He said, "This call is not to talk about coming to our
church, but about something that happened to me, and it involves you."
I wondered what it could be about. He said, "Travis, I was at a conference
a few days ago, and the last message was one I felt I had to hear.
The pastor I went with wanted to come home, but I insisted on staying.
As I walked into the room, it came to me to pray for Travis Johnson.
It happened several times. I didn't know what to pray for, but I
did pray for you. Travis, the title of that sermon was, 'When Your
Dream is in the Dungeon.' Do you have a dream that is in the dungeon?"
Was I shocked! I said, "Yes, but I can't tell you about it until
I pray and see how God leads." Some days later I did share the vision
with Pastor Steven. When I finished, he leaned forward and said,
"If you will get yourself to Russia and do what God called you to do, He
will not only bless that but what you do here. I am going to find
someone to take you over there." And he did just that. I went
with a missionary to Kiev, Ukraine in May 2000.
I talked with several pastors and looked at many
of the theaters in Kiev with no success. My nickname was "the crazy guy"
because I told everyone I needed to light the building outside and that
I needed animals… sheep, donkeys and camels. They said no way not
here. But near the end of my visit I found everything. The
theatre was on the campus of the International Polytechnic Institute in
the center of thousands of students. It was possible to light the
building outside. The theatre was available April and May 2001.
They were eager to have us present the story of the Bible and wanted their
students to work along side us and learn from us. Across the street
was a zoo with animals!
I believed God has pointed us to our beginning.
There was much to be done in a short time. We continued to pray and wait
upon Him. Expectations turned to excitement as we were in awe
of what God had done. |
